We’ve got a big update today, so thank you for sticking with us. Let’s jump right in:
📦 1.Chamber of Chills Annual No. 1 Has Shipped to ALL U.S. Backers!
At long last, Chamber of Chills Annual No. 1 has been printed, packed, and shipped to U.S. backers!
Most U.S. backers should receive their copy this week. Please note that our fulfillment partner does not automatically provide tracking numbers, but we do have access to shipment info on a case-by-case basis.
If you’re in the U.S. and haven’t received your annual by Monday, May 19, feel free to reach out to us at 📧 [email protected], and we’ll help track it down for you.
We hope you love it. It’s a unique addition to the collection that came together because of the delays—and while it’s no substitute for the full set, we’re incredibly proud of how it turned out. (And yes, there’s a little something extra coming with it—we’ll share more about that in an upcoming update!)

🌍 2. International Backers: We Need Your Phone Number
For international backers, annuals are ready to ship—but we need your phone number in your BackerKit profile in order to complete delivery.
Please log into BackerKit and update your shipping info with a phone number.
We’ll be sending out international shipments every few days as we gather phone numbers.

🗺️ 3. Full Collection Update: We’re Almost There
Let’s talk big picture: where are we with the full Pre-Code Horror collection?
Here’s where things stand:
✅ All components (books, boxes, posters, trading cards) are approved and ready.
✅ Everything is either with the printer or in final prep.
✅ We are awaiting final paper delivery, expected in 2–4 weeks.
🖨️ As soon as paper arrives, we start printing with The Frightening 15, then move straight into fulfillment.
📦 The Frightening 15 and its variants will be shipped first.
📚 The remainder of the collection will follow shortly after.
We’ve hit a lot of milestones in the last few weeks, and the final piece is now truly just about paper and logistics.
Our current realistic timeline has books starting to ship to backers in late June. We’ll keep you updated as each phase progresses.
🔦 4. Behind the Scenes: Why Has This Taken So Long?
We’ve seen some recent comments asking how this project could possibly take this long—or whether we knew what we were doing when we launched.
Honestly? If we hadn’t known what we were doing, this might have gone faster.
But the truth is:
• Our team has over 30 years of comics publishing experience.
• We’ve worked with (and inside) every major comics and book publisher.
• We’re working with one of the best print brokers in the business, who manages hundreds of thousands of comics monthly for the biggest names in the industry.
We went into this with a clear plan, built on years of experience. But what we’re doing here—this exact level of restoration, packaging, collectible quality, and scale—has never been done before.
We’re creating something truly special and ambitious. Could we have done a faster, simpler version? Definitely. But we didn’t want to. We set out to create something definitive, and that meant figuring out some entirely new processes along the way.
We’ll do a full postmortem after delivery to walk through everything we’ve learned—and what’s next.
🧪 5. What’s Up With the Fluorescent Covers?
We know a lot of you are excited about these, and we’ll be sharing a dedicated update by early next week with more on the process and how they’re turning out.
Spoiler: They’re awesome.
We’re attempting something with these that has never been done before—and it’s working.

📢 Pre-Code Horror Update: Shipping Starts Soon + Final Steps to Full Collection!

We've got a lot of exciting news to share today—let’s dive right in:
📚 1. Chamber of Chills Annual No. 1 is at the Fulfillment Center!
We’re thrilled to announce that the Chamber of Chills Annual No. 1 bonus issue is printed, delivered, and now in the hands of our fulfillment partner!
The books are currently being packed and prepared to ship.
Shipping is expected to start early next week, and backers should begin receiving them as early as the middle of next week!
We are so proud of how this turned out. It’s a gorgeous piece of the collection—something unique, collectible, and truly special that came together as a direct result of this campaign's journey.
We’ve included a few photos here because honestly... they look amazing, and we couldn’t wait to share!
⏳ 2. Final Steps for the Full Collection
As for the full Pre-Code Horror collection, we are down to one final hurdle:
✅ Finalizing our approach for the fluorescent covers.
Here’s a little behind-the-scenes secret we haven’t shared before:
We’re trying to do something with the fluorescent variants that’s never been done before in comics printing.
We’re shooting for the stars—and if it works, it’s going to be spectacular.
If it doesn't work, the covers will still look awesome, but we’re giving it every shot to make them truly one-of-a-kind.
Final fluorescent test prints will be delivered for review this week.
Once we evaluate them, we’ll lock down the final print numbers. After that, it’s just about paper arrival (expected within 2–4 weeks), press time, and fulfillment.
Our goal is to print and ship in May, and we expect backers to begin receiving sets starting in June.
Of course, we’ll continue to update you every step of the way.
📢 3. Archie + Future Projects
If you’re also an Archie Authentic Editions backer:
✅ Everything is (generally) on track!
✅ Most of the heavy lifting we went through with Pre-Code Horror makes Archie—and future Authentic Editions releases—smoother and faster from here.
